The latest award nominations for House and for Hugh Laurie are for Prism Awards. They are for performances and shows that accurately show drug abuse and mental health issues. Both House and Hugh are nominated, but not for the more obvious episode dealing with mental illness, Broken. Go figure.
Are you like me and would like a bit more information about what the award is awarded for? Here’s the official description:
The Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. (EIC) annually presents, in collaboration with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), FX Network, and News Corporation, the PRISM Awards™, a nationally-televised awards show recognizing the accurate depiction of drug, alcohol and tobacco use and addiction in film, television, interactive, music, DVD, and comic book entertainment. Established in 1997, the PRISM Awards honor productions that are not only powerfully entertaining, but realistically show substance abuse and addiction, as well as mental health issues.
And here are the official listings for the categories:
I’m sad to report that once again, Michael C. Hall won the Best Actor in a Drama award instead of Hugh Laurie at tonight’s Screen Actors’ Guild Awards. Not that I’m sad about Michael winning, but I had hoped it would be Hugh.
Hugh Laurie has won this award before, so I guess it’s ok for him to share the moment.
Oh, well, at least there will most likely be red carpet photos to share with you tomorrow. Be sure to check back!
Be sure to watch or record tomorrow night’s airing of the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards! Hugh Laurie is nominated for Best Actor again this year and I’m betting that the House cast will be there to cheer him on.
And be sure to check back here on Sunday and Monday for the red carpet photos…hopefully also Hugh’s acceptance speech!
Here are the nominations in his category:
I’ve saved the best photos for last. (Besides, there were tons of photos of the women at last night’s Golden Globe Awards.) Jennifer Morrison was there to help represent House and she even sat next to Hugh Laurie. I’m so glad they included her!!
Lisa Edelstein wore a beautiful silver dress, Olivia Wilde wore a metallic stunner and Jennifer wore a light, ruffly dress. I love all three of them!! And anyone who knows me is aware of my fascination with jewelry & accessories, so I’ve given you a few cropped shots of their accessories. I know I can’t be the only one…

As I said in the previous post, photos of the men who attended last night’s Golden Globe Awards are much harder to find. But I did find a few more photos of Hugh Laurie and one more of Jesse Spencer & Peter Jacobson. It was raining on the red carpet, so if you look closely, you can see the raindrops on Hugh’s tuxedo.
We all know how much Hugh Laurie loves to be photographed on red carpets… (he hates it.)
And the photographers at last night’s Golden Globe Awards were much more interested in getting photos of all the ladies in their amazing dresses, so there are just a few good photos of the men from House on the red carpet. Here are the ones I can find. At least they got Jesse Spencer to smile this time!
I’m sad to tell you that once again, Hugh Laurie and House were not named winners for their categories for Golden Globe Awards this year. Mad Men won in the Best TV Drama category and Michael C. Hall who plays Dexter won for Best Actor in a TV Drama.
As a person who does enjoy watching Dexter too, I can say that I’m happy to see Michael C. Hall looking well, in spite of the hat he wore to cover for the recent chemotherapy he underwent for his lymphoma.
At least Hugh has won this award twice and hasn’t been shut out, as he has been for an Emmy Award. I truly thought that with the two-hour season premiere, Broken, he would have finally won.
Oh, well. I can now begin to hope for next year for him…
So far, I’ve been unable to find the acceptance for Favorite TV Drama category in which House won. But I’ll keep hunting.
Here’s the entire Favorite TV Drama Actor presentation in last night’s People’s Choice Awards. I love how Hugh Laurie brought everyone back up on stage when he got his individual award and managed to give a very gracious acceptance speech, followed by some fun humor. He’s so wonderful. I love this!
With the exception of Robert Sean Leonard, all the rest of the House cast was at the People’s Choice Awards show last night. (RSL seems to hate these sorts of events.)
All of the cast members were looking fabulous at last night’s event and I loved how each of them decided to dress for the occasion. Lisa Edelstein and Olivia Wilde both wore very beautiful dresses and simply seemed to glow. Omar Epps was wearing the sharpest men’s suit of the night, in my opinion. And Jesse Spencer was sporting a hot new haircut. He’s hotter than ever now!
Hugh Laurie managed to avoid being photographed by almost all of the photo services that I have access to. This service was the only one where Hugh was photographed, and it’s not my favorite one.
But at least we do have these great photos of Hugh and the rest of the cast of House accepting their People’s Choice Awards and in the press room afterward. I’m hunting for a video clip of the acceptance speeches now…
