Here are some photos from the next new episode of House. Cuddy’s mother, played by Candice Bergen, will be back, only this time, she’s the patient of the week (POTW). House will feel pressure to find a way to treat her successfully because of his relationship with Cuddy and it should be interesting. Even though she isn’t in any of these photos, Cuddy’s sister will make an appearance in this episode too.

The next time we see a new episode of House, Cuddy will be introducing House to her mother, Arlene Cuddy, played by prime time veteran Candice Bergen. We already know that Bergen is adept at playing domineering women from her role as Murphy Brown. But now she’ll bring that toughness to focus on her daughter’s new boyfriend, House. Heaven help them both!

And if that wasn’t enough to look forward to, here’s a taste of what we can expect:

When Dr. House meets Arlene Cuddy (Candice Bergen) on House’s January 17 episode, he thinks he’s treating just another hypochondriac — unaware that his patient is the mother of his girlfriend, Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein).

“He’s on the cusp of losing it,” says Candice, who describes Arlene as “a gentile who would prefer to be a Jew. She considers House a goy unable to commit to her daughter.” Oy! Adds exec producer David Shore, “Arlene’s a tough-as-nails woman who’s very hard on Cuddy. They love each other, but boy, do they drive each other crazy.”

The family reunion continues on February 21, when Candice returns along with Lisa’s sister, Lucinda (Paula Marshall). “Lucinda is the good daughter, ” says Candice. Despite all these Cuddys converging in Princeton to meet the new man, Shore says fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for an engagement. At least “not yet,” he adds, refusing to confirm if Huddy will even remain coupled through the season.

We’ve already learned that Candice Bergen will play Cuddy’s overbearing mother when House returns on January 17. But now we have news that Cuddy’s sister will also be making an appearance. She’ll be played by Paula Marshall.

Here’s a recent spoiler from Lisa Edelstein about what we can expect:

House has only been on break a little over a week now, but if you’re anything like me, you’re already as twitchy as House during Vicodin withdrawal. So I called in reinforcements in the form of the lovely Lisa Edelstein (up for a People’s Choice Award!). When the show returns Jan. 17, Candice Bergen guests as Cuddy’s controlling mother, visiting Princeton-Plainsboro to (what else!) pry and shake things up. “Her mother is the kind of mother who thinks the most loving thing she can do is tell you the worst things she knows about you,” Edelstein said. And Mom’s first meeting with her daughter’s surly boyfriend is far from love at first sight. (Between the scruffy face and bedside manner, are you really surprised?) Undeterred, House is determined to win over Cuddy’s mom. “House is really trying in this relationhip. He’s not brushing it off like it’s nothing. He really wants to be that guy.”

In other familial news, House also recently cast Paula Marshall in the role of Cuddy’s sister, Lucinda, whom Edelstein has a long history with. “She and I have been in all the same casting offices for 20 years. Anybody — especially in your 20s — who’s dark-haired and funny ends up in the same room,” she joked.

One final House call: After a few episodes of peeved Cuddy giving House her dagger eyes, we can look forward to peace on the horizon. “That’s not going to last forever,” Edelstein told me. “She knows who he is. It’s just that when you’re at the beginning of a relationship, everyone is trying to be the best of themselves, and when somebody does something like he did, it’s frightening because it means that that’s still the best of what they have to offer. But she gets over it and life moves forward. Family definitely triggers a lot more stuff, but nothing that they can’t surpass.” [Source: EW]

Episode 7.05 – Unplanned Parenthood

Here’s the very first of the promotional clips for next Monday’s new episode of House. In it, we see that House & Wilson will take on Rachel…and it looks like Rachel might have the advantage…

And the POTW will be played by Jennifer Gray, star of Dirty Dancing. My favorite line this week so far is, “Nice to meet you, you’re fired.”

Episode 7.05 – Unplanned Parenthood
Air Date: October 18, 2010

Here’s the latest description for the new episode of House entitled Unplanned Parenthood. Jennifer Gray, who played Baby in Dirty Dancing will be one of the guest stars. And then, if you like her, you should go watch her dance on Dancing With the Stars right now too. She’s doing amazingly well!

We’ll get to see Rachel, Cuddy’s daughter again in this episode and the team will continue to search for a female team member. It should be another great pisode.
