On Sunday night, Hugh Laurie was overlooked yet again for an Emmy Award for his role on House. I’m so sick of the Emmy selection committee slighting him that I don’t even want to get started again with another comment about it this year. However, while he was on the red carpet at the Emmys, he stopped to chat with Ryan Seacrest about House and about his new movie The Oranges. Of course, he was witty and adorable as always:
We know that House star Olivia Wilde, aka Thirteen, will be taking a short break from the team while she works on her new sci-fi film Cowboys & Aliens. She’s also out helping promote her upcoming sci-fi film TRON: Legacy. Here are some photos of her on the movie’s panel at last month’s Comic-Con 2010 that was held at the San Diego Convention Center.

It’s actually for real. On this week’s House finale episode, we saw that Thirteen was taking a leave of absence because of her health. Now we find out that it’s actually because Olivia Wilde is taking time off from the show to film a big budget sci-fi western movie called Cowboys & Aliens.
Olivia usually works on other projects when the show is on hiatus, but this one overlaps the beginning of shooting for House season 7. According to Katie Jacobs in an interview with E! Online, she’ll be away from House for about two months. Here’s more from that interview:
“Olivia will be there at the very beginning of the season, and then she will not be there for a period of time,” explains executive producer Katie Jacobs. The film also stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Sam Rockwell. (Fun fact: Lost boy Damon Lindelof co-wrote the script with Fringe exec producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.) “She had this opportunity and she was really excited about it,” says Jacobs. “We’re very proud of her and very happy for her.” “The two things — the dates that she was going to be away and the story line [we wanted to tell] — worked out,” says Jacobs. “When the story unfolds, it will [all make] sense.”

House aired its 6th season finale this week, but that doesn’t mean that the cast will be loafing this summer. Several of them are filming new movies or have another big project they are working on.
Hugh Laurie, aka Dr. Gregory House, is filming a new movie called The Oranges. It’s a story of a May-December romance and his co-stars include Allison Janney, Leighton Meester, Catherine Keener, Alia Shawkat, Adam Brody, Oliver Platt, Tim Guinee, Aya Cash, Heidi Kristoffer, Cassidy Gard, Sam Rosen and Stephen Badalamenti and it’s expected to be released sometime in 2011.
You can see some behind the scenes photos of Hugh filming in New York City recently here.
Peter Jacobson, aka Dr. Chris Taub, is filming a movie this summer too. His new film is called And They’re Off. IMDb.com gives us this synopsys:
“A comedy centered on a failed horse trainer who desperately wants to be back in the winner’s circle.”
I’m guessing that Peter was cast in this part at least partially because of his short stature. Some of the other stars in this movie are Sean Astin, Mark Moses, Cheri Oteri, Kevin Nealon, Mo Collins and Martin Mull. This film is expected to be released in 2011.
Jennifer Morrison, aka Dr. Allison Cameron, may be gone from the regular cast, but most House fans still want to know what she’s up to. Her Broadway run for The Miracle Worker is over, but she stars in a movie that’s expected out later this year. The film is called Warrior. IMDb.com shows this plot summary for the movie:
“The youngest son (Hardy) of an alcoholic former boxer (Nolte) returns home, where he’s trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament — a path that puts the fighter on a collision corner with his older brother.”
Robert Sean Leonard, aka Dr. James Wilson is in a ducumentary about Herman Melville. The series is called The American Experience and he’s in the episode entitled Into the Deep: America, Whaling & the World. This is a big deal for Robert’s fans, since he usually spends his breaks from shooting at home with his wife and daughter. He’s a self-confessed home-body.
But the House cast member with the most outside projects is by far Olivia Wilde, aka Dr. Remy Hadley or Thirteen. She’s in 5 upcoming movies:
Right now, since House has finished filming the rest of the season, the actors are all off doing their own thing. Hugh Laurie is in New York working on a new movie called Oranges. Here are more photos of him on the set. (There are more photos of him on the set of this movie here and here.)
How cool is this? A photographer snapped some candid photos of Hugh Laurie on the set of his new movie The Oranges yesterday. He’s in New York right now working on the film with co-star Leighton Meester. The movie’s plot involves Hugh and Leighton’s characters getting involved in a May-December romance.
Here are some fun behind-the-scenes photos that were taken on the set of Hugh Laurie’s latest movie, The Oranges. The movie which also stars Leighton Meester, Sam Rosen and Alia Shawkat, is filming on location right now in New York City.
I wonder what Hugh’s character is so upset about in these photos…
It’s official. Hugh Laurie will be filming a new movie called Oranges while House is on break this summer. The film will be about a “May-December” romance, of sorts and will also star Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl.
Very little more is available about the movie, but you can rest assured that I will update you when there are more details available.
I think it’s cool that we’ll get to see Hugh in a different light for a change. He’ll be the romantic lead in a dramatic comedy, and probably not nearly as grumpy as House. I will enjoy the contrast!
[Thanks to Silvia for the tip!]
Although she doesn’t look thrilled to be followed and photographed, Sela Ward, shopped at the store The Ivy when they snapped her. She played House’s ex-girlfriend Stacy on House for much of season 2.
Sci-fi fans will be excited about this new image that was just released for Olivia Wilde’s new upcoming movie. She’s one of the lead characters in the new movie TRON 2, which is supposed to be released next year.
That’s right, they are just teasing us with this very cool photo. But I cropped it several ways so you could get different points of view for the image. I’ll keep you posted about any new developments.
Here’s the official info about the movie from IMDb.com
Walt Disney Pictures has released this new photo from “Tron Legacy”, opening in 3D theaters and IMAX 3D on December 17, 2010. “Tron Legacy” is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
